Local Planning Authorities success rates for planning appeals

Easily check your LPA's performance on planning appeals for 2022/23 and the previous year using the 2 tables below.

When interpreting your LPA’s figures, bear in mind it will reflect the year's mix of developments for that local planning authority and the proportion of hearings & inquiries. Obviously, the % allowed is less reliable as a guide when there is only a small number decided.  The larger the number of appeals decided, the more useful the statistics are in building a picture of the LPA's likelihood of success.

To check whether your LPA's percentage of appeals allowed is above or below average, the national averages for England for 2022/23 are 29% for s78 planning appeals, 35% for householder appeals and 27% for enforcement appeals quashed or granted planning permission. If you wish to compare this year's figures with last year's, just go to the bottom of the page where you will find last year's table, distinguished by its lack of colour in its headings.
